Colt McCoy Wins Another Award

14 01 2009

Yesterday the great folks over at the Touchdown Club of Columbus announced that Junior Quarterback Colt McCoy had been selected as the winner of the 2008 Archie Griffin Award which honors college football’s most valuable player. Add it to the Walter Camp Football Foundation Player of the Year, Sporting News Player of the Year, Maxwell Award (college player of the year), and O’Brien Award (nation’s top quarterback) he’s won this season, and the numerous player of the week awards.

McCoy put up some Madden like numbers this year, he shattered several University Of Texas Passing records held by Vince Young and most impressively he broke Daunte Culpepper’s NCAA single-season record of 73.6 completion percentage set in 1998 by posting a 76.7 completion percentage.

Way to go Colt! Maybe UT will get some love from the voters next year. Here are some great photos from the 2009 Fiesta Bowl where Texas beat OSU 24-21 in a thriller. Thanks to one of the fine posters over at BurntOrangeFanZone.
